THE “THEORY”

Links Flyer Golf (LFG) is a new twist on golf that makes the game timed, exciting, competitive and solves many issues causing frustration in golf play.

LFG is designed primarily for the average and beginner golfer but fun and challenging to the expert golfer as well.  LFG Golf rewards accurate and consistent shots thus discouraging swinging-for-the-fences reckless style playing.  Good decision making is paramount.

Shots in the fairway and on the green are critically important even at the expense of distance.  Wayward shots are time consuming to locate and usually result in poor lies.

Going for the “stick” (flag) on the green is not as important as securing a 2-putt from a lie in the safe area of the green.

When in the rough, consider chipping out to the center of the fairway over “going for it” with one big swing from the rough.

The driving range is where you work out the kinks with clubs and shots that are causing you trouble.  Use high confidence clubs and shots on the course.

Safety For All Is Paramount In LFG

There are no “honors” in Links Flyer Golf.  Upon arrival at your ball, you may hit your shot so long as it does not interfere with or impact the safety of yourself, players in your group or any other people on the course.

Theoretically, (4) four shots to the hole could be in flight at the same time.  However, this is not a very likely scenario because of the 45 degree safety rule.  This rule states that:

a).  A golfer cannot strike his/her golf ball if there is another golfer within his/her 45 degree “pie” wedge to the pin (flag) or,

b).  The golfer is in another golfer’s 45 degree “pie” wedge.

A “pie” wedge is defined as the centerline of the wedge being a straight line from the golfer’s ball as it lies to the flag stick with 22.5 degrees to the right of the centerline and 22.5 degrees to the left of the centerline.  The golfer must be clear of another golfer’s “pie” wedge and no other golfers are within the golfer’s safety “pie” wedge.

Courtesy

Courtesy to others must be exercised at all times.  It is imperative that all golfers in the group play with a spirit of collaboration.  Teamwork is key.  Give grace - Get grace.  It is supposed to be fun for all.

Distractions

You must learn to play with distractions in Links Flyer Golf. Any noise or visual distraction is not eligible for a “do over” or complaint.  Focus on your own shot regardless of any perceived distraction or annoyance.

However, golf is a sport of manners and any cheating, lewd, derogatory, discriminatory or abusive behavior of any kind will not be permitted.  The golfer found to be the perpetrator of such behavior is subject to suspension of LFG playing privileges or expulsion.
